I built a home network several years ago for convienence since both
Lisa and I are both heavy computer users.
Hardware
- Misc hardware
- Cat6 networking thoughout house with headend in computer closet
- Motorola cable modem.
- D-Link DSS-8+ 100Mbps switch (new version without fan)
- Spike
- Linus (aka Sparky, aka Wumple)
- Celeron 466Mhz system running Linux.
- Q Technologies 230W PSU (power supply unit)
- 512MB RAM.
- Functions as firewall, file server, remote access server, print
server, web server, music jukebox, etc.
- 120GB of storage
- Asus CD-RW drive for backups
- Connected hardware:
- Snoopy
- Jason's desktop Athlon XP 1500+ box, running Windows XP and
Linux.
- Palo Alto ATX case (case stamped grill removed), Zalman
ST-300BLP PSU, Panaflo 80mm and 92mm fans with Zalman Fan Mates
- Asus DVD-ROM drive for watching movies, etc.
- Seagate Barracuda ATA IV 40GB quiet hard drive
- ATI TV Wonder for watching TV
- Connected hardware:
- Logitech Wingman Force joystick
- MS Sidewinder Sensor gamepad
- Woodstock
- Lisa's desktop Athlon 1.33Ghz box, running Windows XP.
- Palo Alto ATX case (case stamped grill removed), Zalman
ST-300BLP PSU, Panaflo 80mm and 92mm fans with Zalman Fan Mates
- ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500DV for video and TV reception
- Pioneer DVD-ROM drive for watching movies, etc.

- Digital camera (Casio QV-3000 with 340MB IBM Microdrive)

- Celeron 466Mhz desktop system running Linux. Yay, I was
finally able to banish Windows from a desktop box.

- LEGO room computer for looking up instructions to old sets and
listening to music.
